Safety at Camp

At Aldersgate, the safety and well-being of every camper is our highest priority. Our goal is to create an environment where campers can grow in faith, build friendships, explore creation, and try new adventures while being cared for by trained and attentive staff.

Staff Training : 
- All summer staff complete an extensive pre-camp training.
- Staff receive instruction in emergency procedures, camp supervision, behavior management, and risk awareness.
- CPR and Wilderness First Aid training are provided for all staff members. 
- All staff are trained in diversity and inclusion.

Water Safety : 
- Lifeguards supervise all swimming activities. 
- All campers participate in a swim test. 
- Safety rules are reviewed before all pool activities.
- Appropriate staff-camper ratios are maintained during swim times.

Adventure Activity Safety :
- Activities such as zipline, climbing, hiking, caving, and challenge courses are lead by trained staff. 
- Equipment is regularly inspected and maintained. 
- Campers receive safety instructions before participating in any adventure activity. 
- Proper safety gear is required and provided when necessary. 

Emergency Preparedness : 

- Camp facilities are regularly inspected and maintained.

- Activity areas are monitored for hazards.

- Safety expectations are communicated to campers and staff throughout the week.

At Aldersgate, we strive to create a Christ-centered community where everyone feels welcomed, respected, and valued.

Campers are expected to:

-Treat others with kindness and respect.

-Follow staff instructions.

- Use appropriate language and behavior.

-Help create an environment where everyone can learn, grow, and belong.
